📌 📍 If you’re not well versed on what’s really going on regarding the issue surrounding snap benefits, and one of the core issues regarding the Government shutdown-please reframe from stating your opinion. To anybody that’s still confused or don’t understand why the REPUBLICANS keep blaming the DEMOCRATS about the shutdown!
📌 The DEMOCRATS refuse to agree to take away Obama Care (The Affordable care act – a law passed back in 2010 under Obama (OBAMA CARE) to make healthcare more affordable – and if you can’t afford buying private insurance you would be eligible for Medicaid) *THIS IS PUBLIC INFORMATION GO LOOK ACA UP OR AFFORDABLE CARE ACT – GO LOOK THAT UP PEOPLE* A lot of elderly people or the average person can’t afford private health insurance or pay high premiums, who are receiving these benefits -they would lose OBAMA CARE and the Republicans want to increase insurance / premiums.
So they (Democrats) closed down and didn’t give in to the Republicans demands (It’s unfortunate that we the people / The American citizens are caught in the middle of this fight) and the REPUBLICANS are now using snap (Food-stamps ) SMH as a pawn to try and get the DEMOCRATS to open and agree. Republicans are Starving the American people who are relying on these benefits to get their way I hope this helps!
📍 -SO yes, republicans are telling half the story when they keep saying tell the Democrats the Democrats the Democrats to open up the government shutdown— it’s because the Democrats won’t give in, or back down and let the Republicans take Obama care away from the average American who can’t afford it. (A LAW THAT WAS PASSED ) —- The Republicans have control over the Senate, Congress, and the House! So if they wanted to they could.
📌 I was a teenage mother with my Son growing up in Newark New Jersey / Brick city in high school 12 th grade my son was already 1 years old I was getting foodstamps and Medicaid and wic checks on and off public assistance when I was eligible not making enough money — – while working my way up- in between jobs and still working hard wayyyy before I became an Author ✍🏽 The benefits helped me! 📍 So I’m speaking for myself and from my own personal experience- and to keep it all the way real – I was getting foodstamps and unemployment in between every corporate Wall Street job a lot everytime I was NOT working, while on my way up everytime i wasn’t working!
📍 When you work, your job pay into unemployment, and depending on what state you live in your tax dollars out your paycheck also pay into unemployment 📍 (STATE TO STATE IS DIFFERENT ) – look on your paycheck and you will see the abbreviations where they take out for unemployment out your personal paycheck (CERTAIN STATES NEW JERSEY SUI, UI,or the other one SDI _ God forbid if you ever become DISABLE – that’s state disability insurance SDI ) —but for the MOST PART your Employer / your job pays into unemployment! So depending on what state I lived in at the time —anytime I was unemployed, or in between jobs I received unemployment and when you only have unemployment as a income that is considered your income- so you take that proof of your income (Unemployment) to Medicaid and the foodstamps office to apply for benefits they give you the amount of unemployment based on your work income per quarter how munch you made working per quarter off your income to determine how much unemployment you can receive and in New York here you are allowed to collect up to 26 weeks the maximum benefit rate (MBR) until you get back on your feet! Some people that didn’t work enough, won’t be able to collect because they didn’t make enough! < Unemployment, just like snap are programs put in place as a buffer to help you in between those moments when you are falling short and need assistance for a moment! >
📌 So even though I work and always grind for what i want ——in between my hustle and grind over the years during those unemployed times snap benefits helped me and yes I will fight and speak up for them to release those foodstamp benefit funds to those people that need it for that moment because those snap benefits helped me in the past !
